Pocket shut down. Here’s an alternative for the things you save now
Mozilla closed Pocket in July 2025. If you used it to save things for later, the right replacement depends on what you save now, and for a lot of people that isn’t long articles anymore. It’s reels, TikToks and YouTube videos.

What happened to Pocket
Mozilla announced in May 2025 that it was shutting Pocket down. The apps stopped working on July 8, 2025, and exports stayed open until October 8, 2025, after which the data was deleted. If you didn’t export in time, those saves are gone.
What to look for in a replacement
- Saving in one tap from the share button, in any app.
- Something readable, not just a list of links.
- Search that works months later, when you only half remember what it was.
- It survives the original being deleted.
Postfolio: Pocket for the things you watch
Pocket was built for articles. Postfolio is built for what people save now: share a reel, a TikTok, a YouTube video or a post, and about a minute later it’s a page you can read, with the recipe, the workout, the itinerary or the advice. Articles and blog posts work too.
- Folders make themselves. Saves are filed and tagged for you.
- Search by meaning, on the free plan: “that pasta with lemon” finds it even when the words don’t match.
- Ask your library a question and get an answer from your own saves, with links to each one.
- Works offline. Your library lives on your phone.
- Private by default. No ads, no selling your data, and your saves aren’t used to train AI.
When something else is a better fit
If you mostly save long articles and want highlights, annotations and a reading queue, a dedicated read-later app such as Instapaper or Readwise Reader is closer to how Pocket worked. If you mostly want bookmarks with tags, a bookmark manager like Raindrop.io will do.
Postfolio is for when the things you save are videos and posts you want to actually use: cook from, train with, travel to.
Questions
Can I import my Pocket export into Postfolio?
Not today. Postfolio saves from your phone’s share button, one post, video or article at a time.
Is Postfolio free?
Yes, to download and to use. The free plan reads 10 saves a month with folders, search and Ask. Pro reads 100 saves a month and connects your library to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude.
Does Postfolio save articles too?
Yes. Share a page from your browser and it’s kept as a readable page, filed and searchable alongside your videos.
